What does your child tell you about their day? 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Ds seems to enjoy keeping as much information from us as possible

I know this is pretty common with little kids, but it's frustrating none the less! Us mum's stand outside the classroom at the end of the day swapping tiny snippets of information our kids have given us Today I got ds in just the right mood and he told me about the silent reading they have done each day. I passed this on to dh who later asked him about it and ds almost denied the story as he hurriedly left the room. Dh and I had a good giggle to each other about his secret life at school.

When do they grow out of this??!

Melissa tells me who she plays with and thats about it, unless i press her for more info she keeps most of it to herself, but listening to both Melissa and Jess talk afterschool I can usually pick up on what happened.
Mums are usually the last to know

I'm getting better at this

Last weekend we played 'schools' all weekend. Ds would role play his day at school, and I got a bit more of an insight into what goes on (for example he made dd and me play the games that he plays in class). I certainly get a lot more information that way than asking 'what did you do at school today?'

By the way the schools game was his idea and not mine. I liked the game because he let me be the teacher, and I taught from the comfort of my bed LOL!

We have worked out a way around their tight lips.

Every night at the dinner table we aske them 2 questions (and we all take turns in answering)

1 - What was the best part of your day?
2 - What was the worst part of your day?

Its really surprising just how much information we can get.

Cherie we try to do something similar to dinner, but we often get one word answers to our questions.

I've found another way to find out what ds does at school - invite one of the girls from his class over for a play! I can't believe how much information his friend gives me, from what music they are dancing to in the school production, to what they're learning in their LOTE class. I love it!
