RE is the highlight of my son's school week

Last year he told me in vivid detail about this man called Jesus who they put up on a burning hot cross (a la hot cross buns

). This year he can't actually tell us anything that he learned in class, but he made it clear how much he enjoyed it. We are not Christians and encourage him to think independently about the material he is taught, but he is very worried about dying and finds a lot comfort in the idea of heaven and so we certainly don't try to dismantle the entire Christian world view. I think he is excited by the big picture concepts that are discussed -the creation of the earth, the idea of life after death, and of course the drama of Jesus' death. I think he's lucky to have a charismatic teacher who brings it all to life. It's a nice break from reading comprehension and maths worksheets
