Has anyone heard anything about this new school?

It proposes to open as a private secondary school in 2009 in central Melbourne.

Hi. My name is Craig Keating.
I am Head of this new school.

I am an experienced teacher and Principal and also the father of four talented little girls.
I am a member of Mensa and have always been interested in g & t education.
I firmly believe that our schooling system has let down g & t children - even the so-called "academic" schools.

So I have decided to do something about it! I am founding my own school, which will open in the Melbourne CBD next year (2009). We will be a secondary school, starting with Year 7 next year and then progressing year by year towards Yr 12.

The school will focus on core academics (rather than music or sport or "fun" electives). I believe it will be ideal for g & t students or anyone who I might generally call the "quiet academic type".

Great to hear about your new school. I run programs for gifted children in primary schools and know the parents' concerns about finding a suitable secondary school for their children. Parents often start investigating this early in their child's primary schooling due to their experience of having an unchallenged and bored child. They don't want this disappointment to continue through to secondary school!

Later in the year I will be running a parents' forum about choosing a secondary school for gifted children. It will be held in the Tecoma area and will present about schools in a fairly wide area around there. I'll post information on this forum for any parents who may be interested in attending.

Craig, I have sent you an email (via your website) to find out if you are interested to present about your school or send some brochures for display at the forum.

Hi Craig,
It is great to hear about your new school, very exciting indeed! I was so hoping your would also offer primary, if there was ever a market for it that is where it is, not to say it isn't at the secondary end either... The SEAL programmes in the state schools are providing some hope for g and t students to receive the type of education they need but a specific g and t private school would be excellent.

Anyway, good luck with it all and if you get even more brave how about aiming for a primary school too
